2005 VIVA Summer Training Fairs

VIVA is hosting two summer training fairs to be held Wednesday, August 3 at William and Mary (limited to 49 participants) and Friday, August 5 at Radford (limited to 48). The fairs will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and lunch will be provided.

Presenters for each day include Thomson Gale (new PowerSearch/MLA/Literature Resource Center), Proquest (factiva), and Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (EconLit, PAIS, Illumina interface). We are also excited to have presentations by two vendors new to VIVA: EBSCO Information Services (CINAHL, PsycInfo and PsycArticles) and OED Online (new interface and quarterly updates). Training documentation from all VIVA vendors will also be available.

Any VIVA library staff member is welcome to attend, but the training will be primarily of interest to reference and public services staff. We will initially limit registrations to two persons per institution, but may open up registration to others if there is room. Staff from both public and private institutions are welcome; however, we can only reimburse registrants from VIVA public institutions. Training money is tight, so we do encourage carpooling. If you have to stay overnight, please fill out a travel authorization form and get prior approval from the VIVA office. See VIVA Travel Guidelines.
