There were 25,894 reported fetal deaths of 20 weeks gestation or more in the U.S. in 2005. The fetal mortality rate was 6.22 fetal deaths per 1,000 live births. The fetal mortality rate declined slowly from 1990 to 2003 but has remained essentially since then. Also provides demographic and other relevant statistics.
