Software Pod

I just added some of the software I've worked on. The search plugins are also at Mozdev.org in their Mycroft Project. The Library Search extension was my first stab at an extension; it adds a context menu to Firefox when you select text to send the selected text to our library catalog, or pretty much any other type of search service.

The CF_GnuPG is a Java/ColdFusion wrapper that I wrote for an article a while back for the ColdFusion Developer's Journal (Public-Key Encryption: Making strong encryption nearly painless).

Joining Mycroft

I just joined the Mycroft Project over at MozDev. This is a project that builds search extensions for Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, and beonex (I think this last one is now defunct).

Now, about the name...

Apple developed the Sherlock 2 search plugin standard in 1998 and included it in Mac OS 8.5. It's primary purpse was to extend the search capabilities from just names, modification dates, and file types to include the actual file contents and Internet documents see Technote 1141").

If you read Sir Arthur Doyle's Sherlock Holmes books, you may know that Mycroft is Sherlock's smarter brother.

The description on the website leaves a bit to be desired...I guess I'll have to update the page!

Anyway, if you want to be able to search a resource from your browser, Mycroft probably has an extension to make it easier!
