Swem Library will open at 10:00 today (Friday)

Campus Closing Early

Because of the stormy weather, the campus will close at 4:00 today. There will be no evening classes. Swem Library will remain open until 8:00pm. The Special Collections Research Center will maintain its usual hours and close at 5:45pm today.

The Library Careers Program, scheduled for 5:00 today, will be rescheduled.

The Obama Revolution at Swem Library

Join us for a book talk on Sunday, November 8, at 4:00, in the Read and Relax area (first floor) of Swem Library. Alan Kennedy-Shaffer, a recent graduate of the William & Mary Law School, will discuss his book, The Obama Revolution. Drawing on his experience as a regional field director for Barack Obama and the Democratic Party in Virginia, the author includes both personal anecdotes of his campaign experiences and a scholarly analysis of (now) President Obama’s vision for the country.

NiCad to Visit Swem September 8

On Tuesday, September 8, at 4:00, stop by the Read and Relax area on the first floor to meet the members of NiCad, five young men from Japan, Israel, Chile, the United States, and Germany who began performing in 2004 while students at The Hague’s Royal Conservatory in the Netherlands. Integrating the styles of their native countries, NiCad is known for the use of live electronics and self-built musical instruments. Their visit to W&M is part of a North American tour that also includes stops in New York City, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Detroit. Refreshments will be served.

Brief Database Outages This Friday

Access to Swem, Law, and VIMS library online databases will be unavailable this Friday, July 31st, while the proxy server software is upgraded. The upgrade will occur around 9:00 a.m. and should be complete by 9:30.

The Multisearch and Electronic Journal databases will be unavailable from 9 pm Friday night for approximately six hours for scheduled vendor maintenance.

We apologize for any inconvenience.
