Database/Article Indexes

• MLA: Modern Language Association International Bibliography

  MLA is the most comprehensive database available for the study of language, literature and folklore. Coverage includes books, dissertations, journal articles, and essay articles in book collections.

  JSTOR

• Full text access to core journals in numerous academic disciplines, including language and literature. For each journal, coverage begins with the first issue.

  General OneFile

  Covers a selection of news and scholarly journals in many academic disciplines, many are full text.

  Periodicals Index Online

  This index is unique in its extensive retrospective and international coverage of the humanities and social sciences.

  WorldCat

  This catalog of the holdings of thousands of libraries world-wide is the most comprehensive database of book titles ever created.

  LEXIS-NEXIS

  Academic Universe provides full text access to a wide variety of news sources around the world. The Non-English Language part of the World News section is especially useful for reviews of modern novels, films and theater productions.

  Historical Abstracts

  This database of modern European and world history can provide many studies relevant to the context and development of important cultural and literary movements.

  The Internet Movie Database

  This database features plot summaries, reviews, cast lists, and theatre schedules for the pictures from all over the world.

• OAIster
• OAIster is a search system created by the University of Michigan that searches freely available,
• difficult-to-access, academically-oriented digital resources. Currently it searches nearly 1.5 million
• resources from almost 200 different institutions worldwide.

• REENIC (Russian and East European Network Information Center ) at the University of Texas, Austin. REENIC features a directory for 28 countries of Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union. It includes links to information servers in and about these countries.
• REESWeb at the University of Pittsburgh
  ReesWeb, sponsored by the Center for Russian and East European Studies of the University of Pittsburgh . It provides an excellent starting point for exploring Russian and East European Web resources. REESWeb also offers a REES specific calendar of events and announcements.
• Sarah Zupko's Cultural Studies Page
  A major directory on cultural studies theory.
• Slavic-Eurasian Studies Web
  A very extensive directory of links to relevant sites in the REES region. Compiled and updated by Hokkaido University in Japan. In English or Japanese.

• Bibliography of Russian/Soviet Cinema
  Compiled and updated by Professor Vladimir Padunov of the University of Pittsburgh . An extensive, subdivided bibliography ranging from the birth of cinema in Russia to the present day.
• Guide to Russian Reference Works
  Compiled by Wojciech Zalewski , former curator of Slavic Collections at Stanford University Libraries. An indispensable guide for any serious scholar. Now updated by Karen Rondestvedt, also of Stanford.
• Pushkin Center Digital Collection at the University of Wisconsin
