A. To find scholarly journal articles in Sociology, start with:
Sociological Abstracts -- a comprehensive index to 1,800+ Sociology and social/behavior science journals, 1952-present.
How to Use Sociological Abstracts
Social Sciences Citation Index via Web of Science -- also a comprehensive index to 1,950 social sciences journals, 1956-present. Somewhat more difficult to search (than Sociological Abstracts), but does provide citation information (such as how many times an articles has been cited by other articles).
How to Use Social Sciences Citation Index
The following periodicals are indexed in Sociological Abstracts. They are listed separately here because they publish articles dealing with the newest topics in Sociology and can be useful for browsing or for choosing a topic:

B. To find selected scholarly journal articles in Sociology and in related disciplines, such as economics and education, as well as some magazine and newspaper articles, try these databases:

- Clase Periodica -- index to 2,600 Latin American journals covering social sciences and other topics
- Communication & Mass Media Complete -- index of 600+ journals in mass media, communications, and journalism
- Contemporary Women's Issues -- index to journal articles and reports about women's issues
- CQ Researcher (and CQ Global Researcher) -- indepth reports, with references, to current topics
- EconLit -- index to 700+ economics journals
- Education Research Complete -- index to 1,500 education journals
- ERIC via CSA or ERIC via FirstSearch -- index to over 2,000 education journals and thousands of education reports; most recent reports are full-text
- Fuente Academia -- index to scholarly journals published in Latin America, Spain, and Portugal, covering all disciplines. Primarily in Spanish and Portuguese.
- Handbook of Latin American Studies -- index to books, journals, etc., on many topics related to Latin America
- JSTOR -- index to 800 journals covering all disciplines. Articles are 2 to 5 years old; about 50 are Sociology journals indexed and full-text, plus another 100 are journals that may relate to Sociology
- Lexis-Nexis Academic -- index to hundreds of magazines, journals, and newspapers; interdisciplinary; about 50 Sociology journals indexed
