1. Check the Library Catalog to make sure that the library has the resources that will be needed by your students. The library's access to databases changes. New resources are added and others are discontinued. There is an alphabetical list of available databases on the Swem homepage.
2. Call (757-221-3067) or e-mail the library reference desk at sweref@wm.edu to inform the staff about your assignment. Tell them when the assignment is due, how many students will be involved, and what level of assistance you would like the librarians to provide.
3. Deliver or send a copy of your research assignment to the reference desk. The campus mail address is "Reference Department, Swem Library." Electronic versions may be sent via e-mail.
4. Place on reserve at the library circulation desk specialized materials that all the students will need to use. Call the Reserves Department at 757-221-3072 or see the Reserves web page for more information.
5. For projects requiring extensive research, consider contacting your library liaison to discuss the assignment and possibly to arrange an instructional session for your class. You can request a session electronically using the Reference Department's online instruction request form.
