In some cases, a durable url will appear in the browser address window when you are viewing an article or document online. The following url takes you directly to a full-text article in Project Muse:
http://muse.jhu.edu/journals/journal_of_higher_education/v073/73.1fairweather02.html
This would be the url to "Copy" and "Paste" as a link on your own web page. It is a good idea to provide a complete bibliographic citation to the article or other work within the text in case the online version is unavailable for some reason.
Most of our full-text databases are available through library subscription and are not accessible to the general public. They are IP-authenticated, so for someone to access them from off campus they must be routed through a proxy server. The proxy server prompts for a campus username and password when it detects an off-campus user. Inserting the following prefix before the durable url allows this routing to occur:
Therefore, the entire url to link a user on, or off campus to the Project Muse article above would be
| http://proxy.wm.edu/login?url=http://muse.jhu.edu/journals/journal_of_higher_education/v073/73.1fairweather02.html |
(Where Proxy is noted, add the proxy prefix to the URL)
